Not only does it seem to be filled with deadly creatures, but two military vessels have just shown up looking for her and her ship. She finds what she presumes to be a Lost Ship, in the middle of perilous circumstances. Honestly, most people think it’s a myth, but Opal is bound and determined to figure out the mystery, because her sister was on board one of the missing ships. She’s about to rendezvous with a set of coordinates that will hopefully lead to a Lost Ship: occasionally ships go missing when travelling faster than light, and even more occasionally one comes back. She hacked the AI and gave it her little sister’s name, Clarissa. In Karl Drinkwater’s science fiction/horror novel Lost Solace (1), Opal, a rogue soldier, has stolen a ship with an experimental AI on board. The author did a great job creating an environment that made you want to read it from start to end in one sitting : ) Great battle and thrilling read but nope, shouldn't have a happened the way it did - the odds were too stacked.ĭefinitely a recommended read. This battle, in my opinion, should have had a different ending. The only downside was the battle against the warship Aurikaa.

You could really feel the danger Opal was in when she was aboard the lost ship. The story was well written and kept my interest. It's not a spoiler to tell you that she finds this lost ship and she boards it and battles stuff - hence the Alien-esque feel (which was really well laid out). Legends say that ships lost in space tend to turn up derelict and changed somehow in a not so good way, but on them are treasures beyond wonder. She need's this ship because she's looking for a lost ship.

The story is of Opal, a rogue soldier, who steals a ship, but not just any ship, a state of the art experimental military ship with a very powerful AI. This was an action packed, Alien-esque type of book - a wonderful read!
